Our official decision to adopt came about 3 months after our last failed IVF attempt in February of 2006. We could have continued to try... after all the shots were something to look forward to every day (a little humor). There is always that part of you that says "just one more time". We honestly believed that we were going to be given a child this way. But, we decided that since adoption was something we also wanted to do for our family, we decided to move on to the next step in our future. Don't let us fool you, it was still difficult to close the door to bearing a child. Lots of questions and definitely a grieving period involved. Not just for us, but for all of our supportive friends and family.
